Staff Biographies

Linda Dembiec
FCAS, MAAA

Ms. Dembiec is the Professional Liability Practice Leader for Select Actuarial Services. She has more than 25 years of property and casualty actuarial experience, including 20+ years specializing in professional liability. Ms. Dembiec has prior consulting experience as well as senior level management roles in a specialty medical malpractice company. This experience allows Ms. Dembiec to bring a practical perspective to client’s issues as well as a broad financial knowledge base from her previous CFO responsibilities.

Ms. Dembiec joined Select in 2004 as Manager of the Charlotte office and Practice Leader for Professional Liability. Prior to joining Select, she was Chief Financial Officer and Actuary at Medical Mutual Liability Insurance Society of Maryland for 14 years. In addition to traditional actuarial analyses, Ms. Dembiec had responsibilities for investment strategy, reinsurance negotiations and structure, financial modeling, rating agency relations as well as due diligence on acquisitions and joint ventures. Prior to Medical Mutual, Ms. Dembiec was a consulting actuary with Tillinghast for over 6 years. During that time, she specialized in professional liability, including managing the projects for the office’s largest single client, a nationwide hospital system. Ms. Dembiec began her career with Sentry Insurance where she gained experience in various personal and commercial lines of business.

Ms. Dembiec graduated with high honors from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Economics. She is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She has been an active contributor to the actuarial profession since achieving fellowship in 1985 and currently is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries Health Care P/C Committee on Medical Malpractice (since 1994). She is a frequent speaker at actuarial meetings and co-author of a paper on interest rate risk. She has also chaired the industry committee of the Physicians Insurer’s Association of America on Regulatory Affairs.
